Is Piedmont, Italy, worth visiting?
Most people speak of, and travel to Tuscany for Italy’s infamous quality of wine, perhaps because this is merely all they know. It might be due to the fact that Tuscany is conveniently located between Rome & Venice. Which makes it an ideal stop-over. However, do not, count out, the Piedmont region as it has some of the world’s best wines. With very similar views to what you would get in Tuscany. The only difference is while you are in Piedmont, in the far backdrop of rolling hills of vineyards, you will see the majestic Swiss Alps on clear days. That’s what makes this region so unique and special. It gives you the opportunity to experience the Alps and experience, arguably the best wine from Italy; The Piedmont Region!

If you are planning on traveling to the region you will want to fly to the city of Turin / Torino. If flying into Milan will be more direct then this is also an option. From Milan you can take a train (2hr) or drive (2hr). Upon your arrival into Turin, Piedmonts capital city. We recommend spending a few nights here exploring. Metropolitan City of Turin, and was the first Italian capital from 1861 to 1865. The city is mainly on the western bank of the Po River, below its Susa Valley, and is surrounded by the western Alpine arch and Superga Hill.

Turin is also worldwide famous for icons like the gianduja, the Holy Shroud, the automobile brand FIAT and the association football club Juventus. The city, among other events, was one of the host cities of the 1934 and 1990 FIFA World Cups, along with hosting the 2006 Winter Olympics; Turin hosted the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and is hosting the tennis ATP Finals from 2021 until 2025.
